Teach me to kill

There was a puddle of bubbling tar on the floor. It left a cloud of gas with the sweet smell of decomposing flesh as it disappeared in a hissing. My slowly returning to normal hearing caught to the noise from beating of another shadow running in the opposite corridor. I felt the metal of the naginata sticking in my hands ... Wait, is this blood?

Jumpei was the first to make a sound I recognized as non-lethal.

"...W-What the hell happened just now?"
His cap was thrown in a corner of the hall.

My thoughts exactly.

Yukari was on the ground being treated with medicine by Akihiko, half his face covered by a massive hematoma but otherwise fine ... I could not remember how it happened. "Oi... Leader? Say something girl, you were freaking us out here! " ...There was this giant shadow that we were facing. Although we had reduced to nothing every enemy that Fuuka was able to detect in each of the previous levels, that ... Thing ... It was playing with us. Yukari had been grabbed by the leg and thrown away like she was a rag doll, she slid down the wall leaving a trail of blood and said no more. Without a good healer and fearing for her life, the only option we had been trying to run desperately until we could reach a portal. Junpei and I stayed behind trying to delay the enemy while Akihiko carried Yukari with him.

And then I felt the winter run his fingers through mine, and speak in a velvety bittersweet ice-cold voice which yielded shivering behind my neck. "You're doing it wrong, my dear." And then the whole chamber was painted crimson.

I could see the ink flowing slowly down the blade.
